"Warning Shadows"
1922
Directed by Arthur Robinson
Directed by
Arthur Robinson, an American who lived and worked in Germany during the
1920's, Warning Shadows is one of the famous examples of
Expressionist cinema. Paul Rotha described the film, which is the story of a
count bitterly jealous of his wife, as "a remarkable achievement. Its purely
psychological direction, its definite completeness of time and action, its
intimate ensemble were new attributes of the cinema. It was a rare instance
of complete filmic unity." Silent with music track. 60 minutes. |
