Rainer Werner Fassbinder produced and has a supporting role in Ulli Lommel's disturbing film about Fritz Haarman, the child killer whose ghastly deeds were also the basis for Fritz Lang's M. Equal parts black comedy, satire and horror, Lommel's film presents a troubling, ambiguous portrait of the killer. Kurt Raab, who plays Haarman, also wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Jurgen Prochnow, making his film debut in a minor role. German with English subtitles. 86 minutes.
