"Stalingrad (Dogs, Do You Want To
Live Forever?)"
1959
Directed by Frank Wisbar
Despite heavy losses, Hitler's Wehrmacht troops have
conquered Stalingrad. It's the winter of 1942-43 and
the German army has been deserted by it's leadership and left to battle
both the Russian army and the Russian winter. This is the story of a
German lieutenant who realizes that the war is senseless and there is
little hope for victory. This is the original film that much of the 1992
version of Stalingrad was based upon. It incorporates
original war footage and German newsreel clips. Black & white. German
with English subtitles. 97 minutes. |
