Her daughter, a would-be chanteuse, moves in with a muckraking journalist to further her career. Soon the dead man's life is distorted throughout pages of a cheap tabloid. Fassbinder paints a world where the honest and the good fall prey to a system of corrupt media and politics, a world where only small kindnesses carry relief to overwhelming suffering. German with English subtitles.
