"Congress Dances"
1931
Directed by Erik Charell
Delightful operetta
set during the 1815 Congress of Vienna, banned by the Nazis because many of the members of
the production crew were Jewish. The film is a fine example of early German sound
movie-making. Lilian Harvey plays an ambitious businesswoman who sees potential for
financial and romantic opportunities. German with English subtitles.
