Riefenstahl starred and directed this fable of an Alpine Mountain woman who
engages in a doomed affair with a painter. The story is compounded by a
mystic light that lures young mountain climbers to their death. Her first film as director was shot on location and emphasizes the
romantic mysticism of the mountains and the transmuting power of nature. The film so
impressed Hitler he asked Riefenstahl to make films for the Nazis. Featuring
Mathias Weimann, Beni Fuhrer, and Max Holzboer. Co-scripted by Bela Balasz.
