"Blind Spot: Hitler's Secretary"
2002
Directed by Andre Heller / Othmar Schmiderer
Traudle Junge, a soft-spoken, gray-haired, 81-year-old
woman, breaks her 60-year silence to recount the years that she spent as
Adolph Hitler's secretary in this simple and captivating documentary.
Filmmakers Andre Heller and Othmar Schmiderer use no archival footage,
photos, or background music, only footage of Junge edited down from 10 hours
of interviews. Through her vivid memories and stories about a job she took
out of "coincidence, chance, and foolishness," Junge reveals how her
experiences changed her and the mechanisms behind a collapsing Nazi regime.
"An absolutely essential document" (Jeffrey M. Anderson, San Francisco
Examiner). German with English subtitles. 90 minutes. |
