"Anita: Dances of Vice"
1987
Directed by Rosa Von Praunheim
Anita Berber, the
notorious "naked" dancer of Berlin of the Weimar era, comes alive in the visions
of an old woman who claims to be Anita in Rosa von Praunheim's truly original film. The
police commit her to a mental institution where in the old woman's dreams and exchanges
with the staff, scenes from Anita's life appear. "Huber is irresistibly funny as the
city's pugnacious doyenne of sin," wrote The Village Voice. German with
English subtitles.
