Roberto Benigni writes, directs and stars in this slapstick comedy of errors.
Dante is a bumbling, adorable school bus driver who happens to look exactly like a
notorious Sicilian Mafioso who has snitched on half the Mafia in Palermo.
Discovered by the wife of Johnny Stecchino, Dante is taken advantage of quite happily by
the beautiful Maria (Nicoletta Braschi). Maria plots to have Dante killed in order
to "replace" her husband. Dante never quite catches on because the plot
coincides so cleverly with his own separate little plot which involves stealing a banana.
Roberto Benigni is one of the most popular comedic actors in Italy, called the
Crown Prince. A special notice must be given to Costume Designer, Gianna Gissi, for
the beautiful contemporary Italian clothes worn by the cast.

"This has to be one of the funniest movies I have ever seen I absolutely
fell in love with the comic genius of Roberto Benigni when I first watched it (almost by
accident) on the Bravo station. "Life is Beautiful" was the icing on the cake of
my appreciation of his rare and marvelous talent. I recommend everything that has the
""Benigni"" stamp on it wholeheartedly!!"
"It is fortunate for Benigni that his talent is recognized the world over.
It is unfortunate, however, that the American public overlooks the fact that he is not a
""clown who speaks very little english"". He is a man whose mission is
to make everyone laugh. He is a one of those rare persons whose heart is big enough to
hold the love of all his admirers"
"It was a fantastically funny story. Roberto is a comic of epic
Bravo Roberto!!!!!!!! We need more Robertos in Canada and the States."
"Home sick from school, I happened upon ""Johnny Toothpick"" on
Bravo. It is an adorable film. Benigni reminds me of Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel and
Jackie Chan rolled into one. He has excellent physical humor and perfect comic timing. I
now can appreciate his bizzare Oscar acceptance speach. I recommend this film to

"This movie's great if you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy an extremely funny
movie. The one thing about it is...you can't approach this movie with any expectations of
American comedy. Roberto Begnini has a very distinct way of coming across as funny. His
humor can be seen through actions , expressions, and use of language. I don't
recommend this as a ""date movie""(if you don't speak italian). This
is because it's a little tricky to kiss and read subtitles at the same time. You have to
pay attention to the whole movie to truly appreciate this particular film."
"Where can I see johnny toothpick without having to buy the movie? What is Bravo that
everyone talks about where they can see the movie? Is it like HBO?"
