Contemporary tale about a worldly young woman who arrives in a tiny rural
hamlet to claim a manor house and forest land that she has inherited from her grandfather,
a man that she never met. She arrives on the back of a motorcycle, being driven by a
rough-looking character in black leather who is actually her closest friend. The
country folk are aghast at the free-spirited Fanny. A neighboring farmer who had
planned to buy the forest land at auction, under the assumption that the old man had died
without heirs, is especially irritated by the young woman's presence. Fanny is
delightfully portrayed by Helena Bergstrom, she seems unaffected by the scrutiny of the
country people, and she eventually wins them over. One scene that was particularly
interesting is in the church when Fanny arrives at the funeral. No dialogue is
necessary as the camera pans from face to face, we can almost "hear" what the
people are thinking.
