Dogs In
Space
Australian - 1987
Richard Lowenstein - Director
Set in the days when chunks of SKYLAB were expected to fall to earth somewhere
over Australia (1978), this film looks at the lives of suburban punk-rockers pursuing
their futile search for true anarchy. Featuring a musical score compiled of such
artists as Iggy Pop, Brian Eno and Michael Hutchence (INXS), who also plays the role of
Sam, the director allows the music to set the pace and create the ambience. It's
hard to make a film come off as candid as this and still be controlled. This one
does. Good pick for fans of contemporary music.

"I've been DESPERATE to buy the soundtrack to this film for years now (I picked up the film in a second hand video shop after looking for 2 years). Please can you let me know if I can buy it, or if you'd know where to start looking!!! Any price paid!"

"This film deserves to have it's soundtrack rereleased AND a new DVD release!","What I cannot seem to understand is why companies sit on product like this when there is such a demand? The sad thing is that those that saw DOGS IN SPACE in the 80's are only getting older.
So every year they sit on it they loose a little of their fanbase already there. I would put the soundtrack on CD catalog at the same time releasing a new improved (maybe any extra scenes?) DVD to capitalize on the fanbase out now.
And with the press and new exposure you'd get a lot of new fans. Definitely one of the great idiot moves letting this film go out of print.
A really fun film by the way. Great soundtrack."

"i managed to find the soundtrack on tape in 1992, after being told it was no longer
avaiable -wow, what a great find! now that tape is too old and worn out, please rerelease this on CD - i need this music around me forever, love it!

"One of the best films for those of us who lived through the time-period, whether in Australia, the U.S., or the U.K.
Now that Michael H. isn't with us any longer, it definitely deserves a re-release. My copy of the soundtrack bit the dust sometime in 1989, and I'd kill for another...it's how I found this website in the first place! Searching for one..
Off to more searches -- but just wanted to add my 2 cents worth...this is an amazing film, and an amazing soundtrack!"

"I'm obviously not the only one looking for the soundtrack!
I've been trying to get a copy of this since I watched the TV screening of the
film many years ago. I have a recording of the film but would love a copy of the
soundtrack. Vinyl or tape would do, but wouldn't it be excellent if it was
re-released on CD! Let's hope some record companies take note and make a lot of
fans happy!"
