"Kestrel's Eye"
1998
Directed by Mikael Kristersson

Far more than a mere nature film, this mesmerizing work allows the viewer to contemplate the co-existence of the human and animal worlds from a perspective that has never been seen before. Filmed over several years, the film follows a family of kestrels living in a church tower above a small Swedish town. As we watch the day-to-day rituals of existence and the birds' obliviousness to the man-made world below, we are forced to acknowledge that life involves both so much more and so much less than we realize. "Few movies have plunged their viewers more energetically into the world of nature" (Christian Science Monitor).  86 minutes.
