"Tombs of the Blind Dead"
1972
Directed by Amando de Ossorio

Spanish auteur Ossorio made his name in the '70s Spanish horror genre with this tale of horrific and malefic reanimated mummified corpses of 13th-century Templar knights who seek victims through sound alone and drink human blood in order to sustain their own damned existence. The superb, highly influential score by Anton Garcia Abril helps underline the stunning visuals. Despite the trite storylines and hammy acting, "the Templars make Ossorio's grisly, heart-string quartet more than worth the effort, galloping to the rescue of the viewer's sanity like a spectral cavalry charge" (Nigel J. Burrell, March 1995). Digitally remastered collector's edition presented in its original uncut form. Spanish with English subtitles.
102 minutes.
