"(Wild Oats) The Error of Youth"
1978-89
Directed by Boris Frumin

Deemed "too close to 'real' life in the former Soviet Union" and thus banned in 1979, The Errors of Youth is the story of Dmitri (Stanislav Zhdanko), a former conscript in the Red Army (now a highly-paid construction worker in Siberia), who finds his love affair disintegrating over the question of children. Disillusioned, he moves to Leningrad, falls into a life of black marketeers, and enters into a marriage of expediency. Director Boris Frumin left the unfinished film behind and emigrated to the United States, and in a historic gesture on Russia's part, was invited back to Leningrad 11 years later to complete the film. With Stanislav Zhdanko, Marina Neyelova and Natalia Varley. Russian with English subtitles.
87 minutes.
