A rags-to-riches story

lofty heights as a jazz-orchestra conductor. Lyubov Orlova, who established herself as the
first recognized star of Soviet cinema, stars as Anyuta, the film's heroine. Also
notable is the camera work of Vladimir Nilsen, who introduced Western camera techniques to
