A rags-to-riches story that is Grigori Alexandrov's first musical comedy.  A humble shepherd boy reaches lofty heights as a jazz-orchestra conductor. Lyubov Orlova, who established herself as the first recognized star of Soviet cinema, stars as Anyuta, the film's heroine.  Also notable is the camera work of Vladimir Nilsen, who introduced Western camera techniques to Soviet cinema.  Original title: The Shepherd of Abrau; other titles: Moscow Laughs, Jazz Comedy.
