A film based on the actual experiences of the filmmakers, this is a stirring account of a beloved hero of the Russian Revolution.  Chapayev (played by Boris Babochkin) is an illiterate Russian who was one of the Czar's soldiers; after the Revolution, he formed his own forces and went on the Red Side, fighting the Whites.
