This film from the former Soviet Republic focuses on Andrei, a polite and educated college professor who is an expert translator of Dostoevsky.  Andrei's dilemma is that he finds it impossible to resist the sincere affections of Alla, a beautiful 25 year old woman,  despite the fact that he knows that it is his wife who deserves his love.  This Soviet comedy, scripted by popular playwright Alexander Volodin, is one of the most interesting Soviet films of the last 20 years. Russian with English subtitles.
