"The Forbidden Quest"
1993
Directed by Peter Delpeut

A fascinating story that recalls events surrounding the ill-fated voyage of the "Holland", a ship that in June 1903, departed for Norway. In fact, this ship was secretly headed for the South Pole. Nearly 40 years later, the sole survivor, a ship's carpenter, was finally located in a tiny cottage in Ireland. There, the old man explained how murder, cannibalism and, finally, a spiritual awakening befell the men of that fateful voyage. A harrowing adventure in the tradition of Herman Melville and Joseph Conrad. "Stunning archival footage, an intriguing plot, and a dash of The Twilight Zone" (Bill Hoffman, The New York Post). Dedicated to Frank Hurley. In English.
75 minutes.
