"Tokyo Olympiad"
1965
Directed by Kon Ichikawa
Utilizing over 100
cameras, the director captures the essence of competition and the beauty of the human form
as has never been done before. Ichikawa was commissioned by the Olympic committee to
direct a film which would capture the athletic excellence of the event. Not being a sports
fan, he chose to present the events in a way which would express the art and beauty
involved. Hailed by Gene Siskel as one of his Top Ten Films I'd Like to See on Video.
