"The Razor-Sword of Justice"
1972
Directed by Misumi Kenji
The pulsing '70s
soundtrack, soft-core S&M, politically incorrect and misogynist themes and copious
buckets of blood make this the most over-the-top Samurai series ever made. Itami "The
Razor" Hanzo is the baddest cop in Edo during the late 1800s. His wits are as sharp
as his sword and his martial arts skills rival the size of his (ahem)
"jurisdiction." He ferrets out corruption high and low and delivers what passes
for justice in Edo during the Shogunate period of Japan. A wonderfully guilty pleasure.
