Japanese director Hideo Nakata directs this psychological thriller based on the book by Shogo Utano. When Takayuki's wife is kidnapped, he must come up with a large sum of money for her release. Unbeknownst to him though, his wife has staged the entire kidnapping. A series of double and triple crosses occur as Takayuki, his wife and the kidnapper become entwined in a rather confusing, yet suspenseful, game of deceit and murder.
