"The Tenth Victim"
1965
Directed by Elio Petri
In the 21st century,
war has been replaced by survivalist warfare in which computers randomly
select "hunters" to prey on "victims," to control overpopulation and satisfy
society's bloodlust. Marcello Mastroianni and sex bomb Ursula Andress are
rivals whose showdown is filmed by director Elio Petri as a mass media
spectacle. "An inventive, witty sci-fi extravaganza" (Pauline Kael, The New
Yorker). In Italian with English subtitles.
92 minutes.
