"The Forbidden Christ"
1950
Directed by Curzio Malaparte

This only film by Italian writer, journalist and poet Curzio Malaparte, best known for his 1944 novel Kaputt, is the story of a soldier who returns from the war after years in a POW camp to find that his younger brother, a Resistance fighter, has been killed by the Nazis. Bent on revenge against the person in his village who betrayed his brother to the enemy, he seeks information from the war-weary townsfolk, but his rage and impatience lead him to kill the wrong man. Italian with English subtitles.
