"Nina's Tragedies"

Winner of 11 Academy Awards in its native Israel, this
gently comic look at an Israeli teenager's infatuation with his aunt is
imbued with surrealist flourishes and an air of sadness. Aviv Elkabeth stars
as Nadav, a Tel Aviv teenager who happily moves in with his beautiful aunt (Ayelet
Zorer) after her husband dies and his parents' divorce. But Nadav's aunt's
emotional fragility and the renewed demands of his parents make life more
difficult than he had anticipated. "With improbable charm, Gabizon knits it
all together, his characters' sexual obsessions and earthiness tempered by a
soulful melancholy" (Village Voice). Hebrew with English subtitles.
