"The Flying Camel"
1994
Directed by Rami Na'aman
Ethnic and religious
differences are set aside to honor humanity in this warm, upbeat comedy
about a Jewish professor, an Arabic trash collector and a Catholic nun who
wind up together in the professor's junkyard. At first, there is conflict
over the property itself, which the trash collector claims was the former
location of his father's orange grove. Eventually, with differences
resolved, they team up to reconstruct a flying camel statue that had been
used as a symbol of Tel Aviv's renewal at the 1934 Eastern Fair. Hebrew
with English subtitles. 92 minutes.
