Fascinating glimpse into the rural life of the Iranian
people, The Cow is a beautiful and simplistic drama about a small
village whose livelihood depends on one cow, who is cherished by the
villagers and its owner, Hassan. When the cow dies, the grief stricken
Hassan begins to believe that he is the bovine. The film won great acclaimed
at the 1971 Venice Film Festival after being smuggled out of the country for
