"Cat's Play"
1972
Directed by Karoly Makk
Contemplative drama about rekindled passion, love,
friendship and growing old. Two sisters, living in different regions of
the country, continue to communicate through letters and phone calls. The
correspondence, usually centering on earlier, happier times, turns darker
when one of them falls desperately in love with her old flame. Told in the
form of an epistolary novel and utilizing vivid images to convey the
character's innermost thoughts, Makk's film is a serious, stylistically
daring and deeply involving drama. Hungarian with English subtitles.
