"The Ghost Goes Gear"
1966
Directed by Hugh Gladwish
In the wake of the huge
success of The Beatle's A Hard Day's Night, film and record
companies scrambled to create movie vehicles for British Invasion rock
groups. This one is built around The Spencer Davis Group (Gimme Some
Lovin', I'm a Man), including young singing sensation Steve
Winwood, just 17 when this was filmed. The plot has the band stuck in a
haunted English manor, but that's mainly an excuse for a half-dozen tunes
from the band, as well as performances from other musical acts of the era:
Acker Bilk, The Lorne Gibson Trio, David Berry, The Three Bells, St. Louis
Union and the M6. 79 minutes. |
