"Plucking the Daisy"
1958
Directed by Marc Allégret
The London News Chronicle called Brigitte Bardot
"one of the most astonishing myths of the post war world." In Plucking the Daisy, Agnes Dumont (Bardot) anonymously writes a
scandalous best-selling romance novel for which her father - the highly
respected General Dumont - ships her off to a convent. Instead, she
flees to Paris to live with her brother who claims to be a "rich and
famous painter" (he's really just a tour guide at the Balzac museum). Now in need of money, she decides that the best way to earn it is by
winning the Grand-Prize in a striptease contest. "Pure
Mayhem." - The Motion Picture Guide. Includes original
theatrical trailer. Digitally remastered. With Brigitte Bardot,
Daniel Grélin, Darry Cowl, Jacques Dumensil, Robert Hirsch. French
with English subtitles. B&W. 99 minutes.
