"Oh Woe is Me"
(Helas Pour Moi)
Directed by Jean-Luc Godard
Gerard Depardieu meets
Jean-Luc Godard in this gentle Godard fable in which divinity touches everyday life.
Godard transposes to Switzerland the Greek myth in which Zeus inhabited Amphitryon's body
to seduce a man's wife, with surprising results. Godardian touches like titles on the
screen, townspeople who function as a theatrical chorus and music from Bach, Beethoven and
Tchaikovsky make this a cerebral but passionate exploration of constancy and cinema.
French with English subtitles.
