"Angel-A"
2005
Directed by Luc Besson
In another of Luc Besson's patented visual feasts,
Jamel Debbouze (Amelie) plays a lowly
grifter on the verge of committing suicide by jumping off a bridge. When a
mysterious blond woman (Rie Rasmussen) beats him to the punch, he rushes to
her aid. Together, they set off across Paris collecting money for his debts
in a series of screwball adventures. He comes to realize that he does have
something to live for, and her name is Angel-A. An Official Selection at the
2007 Sundance Film Festival. Filmed in lush black-and-white by Thierry
Arbogast. French with English subtitles.
145 minutes. |
