"Tales from the Gimli
Hospital"
1988
Directed by Guy Maddin
The surreal first
feature from Canadian independent Guy Maddin is set in the isolated
village of Gimli, Manitoba, at the beginning of the century. Jealousy and
madness overtake two men who share a hospital room. In chilling though
mocking vignettes, they exchange wild, inventive tales involving
pestilence, reckless envy and necrophilia. With Kyle McCulloch, Michael
Gottli and Angela Heck. Also included is the Maddin short Dead Father
(1986, 23 mins.). 72 minutes.
