"How Tasty Was My Little
Frenchman"
1971
Directed by Nelson Pereira dos Santos
Inspiring a furor at
Cannes, this black comedy is a brilliant satire on the Colonialist mentality and one of
the high points of Brazil's Cinema Novo. A French explorer tries desperately to be
accepted by his captors, an Amazon tribe that feeds him very well. It is only at the
end that the Frenchman realizes why. French and Tupi with English subtitles.
80 minutes. |
