Based on a true story and set during the days of the military junta, a group of young idealists kidnaps the American ambassador in order to throw attention to the curtailment of freedom in Brazil. Told from the perspective of one of the young revolutionaries, Barreto's controversial film creates a tense atmosphere as he depicts the four days the ambassador was in captivity, and in the process revisits Brazil's all-too-recent political past.
