"The Inheritors"

In this fresh and lively
socialist parable, the death of a cruel landlord in a small Austrian
village of the 1930s brings unexpected consequences. The identity of his
mysterious murderer becomes less of an issue than the inheritance of his
land. Believing the peasants would turn on each other if given control,
the land owner bequeaths his farm to seven laborers upon his death. Their
new freedom does indeed bring up conflicts within the group, but also
great possibilities if their differences can be worked out. "An
