|
"The Last Wave" Peter Weir's fourth feature is a visually compelling portrayal of inner hysteria and apocalyptic vision. David Burton (Richard Chamberlain), a Sydney lawyer, is sucked into the whirlpool of events surrounding the mysterious death of an Australian Aborigine when he volunteers to defend those accused of the murder. During the course of the trial, Burton's abstracted dream images begin to reveal strange water-related events in the weather, leading to a memorably eerie finale. 106 minutes.
